Proton has announced that customers taking advantage of its Black Friday 2020 deal will be able to get early access to its ProtonDrive beta. ProtonDrive is the firm's attempt to make a privacy-friendly cloud storage platform and joins ProtonMail and ProtonVPN.

Proton’s Black Friday Sale will be available for just under two weeks. Proton is offering several tiers:

  • ProtonMail Plus for 1 year costing $3.25 per month (billed as $39).
  • ProtonVPN Plus for 1 year costing $6.67 per month (billed as $79.99)
  • ProtonMail Plus + ProtonVPN Plus for 2 years costing $7.50 per month (billed as $180) and comes with early access to ProtonDrive.
  • ProtonMail Plus + ProtonVPN Plus with early access to ProtonDrive for just 1 year at $8.25 per month (billed as $99).

With ProtonMail Plus, you’ll get 5GB of storage and premium features such as creating extra email addresses and using your own custom domain. With ProtonVPN Plus, you get access to high-speed VPN servers in more than 50 countries with support for streaming services, P2P/BitTorrent support, one-click Tor access, and other advanced features. Both types of accounts give full access to ProtonCalendar beta and all ProtonContacts features.

If you upgrade both ProtonMail and ProtonVPN, you will be given early access to ProtonDrive. This service is still in beta but offers basic functionality that allows you to store files with end-to-end encryption making it ideal for more sensitive documents. Access to ProtonDrive will be permanent and you’ll have access to the paid features after the beta period for as long as your subscription remains active.
