Playable Pac-Man on Google

In order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the iconic game Pac-Man, Google has included an interactive version of the game on its homepage. This is Google's first fully interactive "doodle" on the homepage.

If you browse to the homepage you will notice that the classic "I'm Feeling Lucky" button has been replaced with an "Insert Coin" button. Clicking this will start the game up and the arrow keys can be used to control Pac-Man. If you click the Insert Coin button again then you will be joined by Ms. Pac-Man who can be controlled by a second player. This player can use the WASD keys to control the character.

Marcin Wichary, senior UX designer and developer of Google Said:

"When I was growing up, my dad had the best job I could possibly imagine: he was an arcade game and pinball technician. For me, that meant summer trips through Poland’s coastal cities with their seasonal arcade parlors; peeking inside cabinets to learn programming and engineering secrets; and—of course—free games!

He says one of his favourite games as a kid was Pac-Man which inspired him to go to so much effort for the game's anniversary. The game will be up for two days "because it’s too cool to keep for just one day".
