Alcatel IDOL 4S with Windows 10 unboxing and first impressions

If you've been waiting for a flagship Windows phone to arrive this year, today may be your lucky day. The Alcatel IDOL 4S with Windows 10 features a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 64GB of internal storage, and 4GB RAM. Announced on Tuesday, the IDOL 4S offers similar high-end features that can be found on HP's Elite x3.

While HP and Alcatel are the only two OEMs that are currently offering a flagship Windows phone, the Elite x3 is aimed squarely at businesses, which makes the IDOL 4S with Windows 10 the only consumer-focused Windows flagship on the market.

Of course, it's exclusive to T-Mobile for the moment, and it doesn't look like it's going to launch anywhere else. According to the box, the IDOL 4S only offers bands 2, 4, and 12 4G LTE, which are the three bands that T-Mobile uses, so if you manage to unlock and take this phone to another network, be aware that you might not get high-speed data.

As for the phone itself, it's quite frankly wonderful. It's thin, light, and stylish and bears a resemblance to a Samsung device like the Galaxy S6, offering a metallic glass panel on the back. The FHD AMOLED display is beautiful, and the device feels premium. Check out our unboxing and first impressions:
