Apple's redesigned iPad Air is available for pre-order starting today

About a month ago, Apple announced an all-new lineup of iPad Air tablets, only saying that they're coming in October. Today, the company announced that pre-orders are open. The date is no surprise. The tablets include the new A14 Bionic processor, so it likely didn't want people showing off what would equate to iPhone 12's performance ahead of the iPhone 12 launch.

The big story around the new iPad Air is that it's been completely redesigned. It borrows the design from the iPad Pro lineup, getting rid of the Home button in favor of smaller bezels. It doesn't go the route of Face ID though; instead, there's actually a fingerprint sensor on the side. It also comes in fancy new colors, such as green and blue.

The new 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display has a resolution of 2,360x1,640, which is actually still lower than the iPad Pro. Other Pro features that have made their way to the Air include USB Type-C and support for the latest Apple Pencil.

You can pre-order the iPad Air starting today, and it starts at $599 for the base model and $729 for the cellular model. To bump up the storage from 64GB to 256GB, it will be an extra $150.
