Halo Infinite gameplay shows the new grappling hook in action

Halo Infinite gameplay was shown off for the first time during the Xbox Games Showcase today as the opener, giving a look at a slice of the campaign that has Master Chief taking down quite a lot of aliens using his new arsenal. You can catch the 4K 60FPS gameplay trailer above.

According to 343 Industries, what's shown in the trailer is several hours into the campaign, where Master Chief and the Pilot seen in the last trailer crash land onto a Halo ring. As seen in the key art reveal yesterday, Master Chief now has a grappling hook, Grappleshot, which lets him close distances to enemies, pull himself up to new areas, and pull objects - such as explosive barrels for throwing - to him.

The new Halo players will explore is described as being "several times larger than that of the last two Halo games combined." The enemy faction was also confirmed to be the Banished, the force first seen in Halo Wars 2. Here's how 343 Industries describes the title:

Halo Infinite is the most ambitious Halo game ever made, with an environment several times larger than the last two Halo games combined. Players can explore an expansive landscape filled with sprawling natural wonder, mystery, and a story that welcomes those new to the franchise as well as continues the Master Chief’s saga for our most dedicated fans.

The developer said Halo Infinite will run at 60FPS at up to 4K resolution on the Xbox Series X. The title is also coming to Xbox One family of consoles and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. As expected, Xbox Game Pass subscribers will also receive access to the game on day one.
