Combat evolved: Halo The Master Chief Collection to be updated for Xbox One X

Today, Microsoft announced that it will be enhancing Halo: The Master Chief Collection for the Xbox One X, so the game will be playable in True 4K resolution and HDR, but not until 2018.

While we knew that Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2 are going to be enhanced for the Xbox One X, you might have been wondering about the rest of the games. There's some good news though, as Microsoft has finally confirmed that Halo: The Master Chief Collection will be updated so that it can be played in True 4K and HDR.

The collection of games includes Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. If you purchased the game early though, you got a free add-on that included Halo 3: ODST, although that's still available to purchase.

In this case, the name Combat Evolved is apt, as the game was originally released for the original Xbox. It was remastered for the Xbox 360, calling it Anniversary, and enhanced again for the Xbox One with The Master Chief Collection. Now, the game is once again evolving to be played at 4K. The same can be said about Halo 2.

There's a catch though. Don't expect to receive any of the 4K assets until 2018. We've been playing these games for so long though; surely, we can wait another few months to a year.
