Instagram gets a redesign; Windows 10 app to be updated later this week

Instagram is getting a redesign today and let's face it, it was time. All four Instagram-branded apps will receive new icons and in the main Instagram app's case, a complete redesign of the app.

The new icons are colorful and flat, something that couldn't be said for the old Instagram logo, which was really beginning to look dated. A couple weeks ago when the Windows 10 Mobile app launched, it was surprising to see it have an flat, all-blue tile, but it appears that it was a placeholder for something else.

While the new icons are the story of the day, the inside of the Instagram app is all-new as well. According to the firm, the new design "puts more focus on your photos and videos without changing how you navigate the app".

All of the new apps are live right now for iOS and all except Boomerang seem to be live for Android.

But we saved the best for last. At first glance, it might appear that the two-week-old Windows 10 Mobile app is already out-of-date; however, Windows phone users finally have some good news. An Instagram spokesperson has reached out to us and confirmed that the app will be updated later this week with the new redesign.
