Microsoft has created a unique keyboard for Android Wear

Microsoft has been creating software for many different platforms for years and with the company continuing down that path of having its software on every platform, it should come as no surprise that they have created a keyboard for Android Wear.

The keyboard comes from Microsoft's Research division and can be downloaded today at the source link below. The basic concept is that you can now 'draw' the letters on the screen of an Android Wear device instead of tapping on letters. It's pretty simple idea and if you watch the video below, you'll see exactly what we mean.

With such a small screen, trying to create a usable keyboard is a challenge for any company and this is one of Microsoft's first takes on trying to come up with an elegant solution. Seeing that this keyboard is only a prototype, we hope that Microsoft will continue to refine the keyboard rather than show the proof-of-concept nature of using this style of input on a small display.

There is no groundbreaking technology here but it is a simple solution for trying to type on small displays. Microsoft says that the the current version (0.1) only supports square screens with 320x320 screen resolution and the Motorola Moto 360 (that we reviewed); make sure your watch is compatible before trying to install the keyboard.
