Microsoft's Outlook.com beta test is over, as new redesign rolls out

Last August, Microsoft announced another redesign coming to Outlook.com, and it introduced an open beta program. As spotted by WindowsObserver, the beta test is now coming to an end, and for some users, the option to join or switch back to classic mode has been removed. Now, the redesign is starting to roll out to everyone.

Probably most notable is that the new design includes a "Dark mode", which can be found in the Quick settings; it's a feature that's been becoming increasingly popular lately, what with YouTube rolling it out over a year ago, and it also found its way into to Windows 10 in 2016, and it's coming to macOS later this year. But of course, that's not all, as you'll find new emojis and GIFs, along with improved search.

All of the images that you see in Outlook.com will now show up in Photos. That way, you won't have to sort through old emails to find an image that someone sent you. There's also a new launcher for the various Office Online apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Sway, Skype, OneDrive, and Flow.

When the new design was first introduced last year, Outlook.com was already coming off of a fresh redesign. It would seem that Microsoft is ready to stick with this one, with the option to join the beta program being gone.

You can head to Outlook.com to see if the new design has been made default for you yet, and let us know in the comments what you think, and if you love Dark mode!
