Honor MagicBook Pro unboxing and first impressions

This week, Honor introduced a handful of new laptops releasing over the next few weeks. The most notable of these new laptops is the MagicBook Pro, a 16-inch laptop with a Ryzen 5 4600H processor, which is a six-core, 12-thread CPU. It also has 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM, plus 512GB of SSD storage.

Honor sent me the MagicBook Pro earlier this week, and it's a super exciting device. AMD's Ryzen 4000 series has been making waves since it launched earlier this year, but I haven't had the chance to try it before. This is also the first time I'm using an H-series processor at all, and I'm really interested to see the performance of laptops with 45W processors.

The display is also the biggest I've used in a laptop, at 16.1 inches, though it's still 16:9, which means I'll need to wait a little longer to learn why everyone sings the praises of 16:10 and 3:2 displays. It's a Full HD panel, so it's not the sharpest out there, but it's completely acceptable considering its price.

That price is €899.90/£849.99, which is pretty nice considering something like the Dell XPS 15, which has an 10th-generation Intel Core i5 H-series processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 512GB of storage, costs £1,599 officially. That laptop is also heavier, starting at 4lbs, while the MagicBook Pro weighs in at just over 3.7lbs.
