iPad HD with Retina display could launch this fall

There have been many rumors about the iPhone 4S lately, and now there's a rumor about the next iPad. Rumor now has it that Apple will be releasing a new member to the iPad lineup. Sources say that this is a revision to the iPad 2. One has to wonder if this is what Steve Jobs meant when he said 2011 would be the year of the iPad 2.

Sources for This is My Next say that the new device will be dubbed the iPad HD. It will have a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536. As hard as the idea of this tablet is to swallow, it is said to be aimed at folks who work in video and photo production. The tablet could even be released alongside an iPad version of Final Cut or Aperture. The device is said specifically to not be an iPad 3, meaning it is complimentary to the lineup, think MacBook and MacBook Pro.

There’s one question that has yet to be answered, however. Just why was everyone reporting on the supposed “iPhone 4S” recently? We now have an answer. Simply put, as the iPhone 5 components are built for a smaller and lighter device, they can be easily fit into a casing which for all intents and purposes looks identical to an iPhone 4. Sources say  that Apple has been testing new components in old cases. The iPhone 4 design has apparently fallen out of favor with the company.
