Microsoft is killing off the Windows Insider Program's Skip Ahead ring

It's about that time. With the Windows 10 November 2019 Update right around the corner, 20H1 will be moving to the Slow ring. And with the 20H1 RTM months away, many expected that previews for the feature update after that will start showing up in the Skip Ahead subset of the Fast ring.

It won't. In fact, Microsoft confirmed today that Skip Ahead isn't returning at all. One of the reasons for that is because of the new way that things are. As we saw over the past year, Microsoft starts testing the major update early in the Fast ring, and the minor 'H2' update is tested in the Slow ring. The truth is that Skip Ahead really isn't necessary anymore.

If you've already got your PC configured for Skip Ahead, which has always only been a subset of the Fast ring, you're going to be merged with the standard Fast ring. There's nothing that you need to do.

At some point, Microsoft will begin publicly testing the next version of Windows 10 that will come after 20H1. But it will arrive for everyone in the Fast ring, not just the limited amount of people that were allowed to sign up for Skip Ahead.
