In September, Microsoft updated its To-Do app with a new "smart" list called Planned, which essentially collects and organizes your tasks for the next five days or so. Like the Important list, this is automatically populated by the service, serving you the tasks it thinks are more relevant to you at that time.
While the feature might be useful, it's also likely that many won't want it taking up space if there are no items on it, and now, Microsoft is addressing that. The latest update for To-Do on Windows 10 adds an option in the settings to automatically hide empty smart lists from the sidebar menu, which includes both the Planned and Important lists. There are some other minor improvements in this release as well, including support for themes for the Planned list. Here's the full changelog (via Windows Central):
- If you found that your Planned smart list seemed a bit out of sorts, we apologize for the confusion. We've got it all, well, sorted with this update.
- Use theme colors to keep your lists organized? Then you'll be happy to know that you can now add themes to your Planned smart list.
- We've also added the option to automatically hide your empty smart lists, so you won't see an empty Planned or Important list in the sidebar.
- Likewise, your smart lists can be hidden from the context menu.
- We've also continued to improve our performance and sync.
The task management service has made some progress since being introduced as a replacement for Wunderlist, adding support for shared lists and more. You can download the latest version from the Microsoft Store, but you can also access the service on the web. Note that these improvements are only available for Windows Insiders for now, but they should roll out to everyone soon.
