Office for Android updated to include Office Lens functionality and more

Microsoft updated its Office suite of apps on Android today. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are now on versions 16.0.7766.4775, 16.0.7766.5022, and 16.0.7766.4272, respectively.

Here's what's new:

Word

  • Capture whiteboards: Use the functionality of Office Lens to capture, clean up and crop pictures of a whiteboard and add them to your documents.

Excel

  • Open more files: Now you can open files that contain form controls.

PowerPoint

  • Share one slide: Don't send a whole presentation when all you want to share is one thing. PowerPoint lets you share a single slide with others.

  • Capture whiteboards: Use the functionality of Office Lens to capture, clean up and crop pictures of a whiteboard and add them to your slide.

According to the version numbers, this should be the same update that was released to Insiders almost two weeks ago. Today's update, however, doesn't list one of the features that was shown in the Insider build, which is picture effects, such as 'shadow' and 'reflection'.

It's been about four weeks since Microsoft's last Production update for its Office for Android apps. That build brought support for SVG images. Naturally, there should be another Insider build in about two weeks, followed by the Production release two weeks after that.
