OnePlus is going to charge fans $40 to attend its OnePlus 5T launch event [Update]

Earlier today, OnePlus announced new details for its upcoming handset, the OnePlus 5T. The firm has planned an event on November 16 that will be held in New York. While events like these are usually reserved for press or similar outlets, it appears that the firm is going to make it open to the public as well. OnePlus fans will be able to attend the upcoming event, but unfortunately, at a cost, as the firm will be charging a fee of $40 per ticket.

A post on the OnePlus forum from co-founder Carl Pei states:

The OnePlus family has always had a big digital following. But that won’t keep us from wanting to get closer to our fans in a more personal way. That’s why we’re inviting you to join the team in Brooklyn for the official unveiling of the OnePlus 5T. Tickets will be available on our Launch Page for $40 USD on November 8. We look forward to seeing you there!

Pei wants to get closer to the fans but also charge them for the privilege. If you're interested in this, you can head to the OnePlus page on November 8 at 12pm ET in order to try and claim your ticket. As mentioned before, it will cost $40 and the event will take place in Brooklyn, New York. If you think the $40 is a bit too much to pay for a launch event, you can also enjoy it online through its live stream.

Update: OnePlus has clarified that the money received for tickets will be going to charity.
