Samsung has announced the release of Samsung Health 6.0. The new update includes updated health and fitness tools, a whole new user interface, and increased personalisation to give users more control over their health and wellness. In the announcement, Samsung also revealed that the app has more than 65 million monthly active users worldwide.

Discussing the app update, Peter Koo, SVP and Head of the Health Service Team at Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics, said:

“At Samsung, we are committed to empowering users with the tools to manage their own health and well-being. We’re proud to deliver a service that continues to redefine the health and fitness experience, with new features to help our users to achieve and exceed their health goals.”

Upon launching the newly updated app, you’ll see a simpler home screen categorised and prioritised according to your needs and habits so that you can quickly view and access your most used features. Along the bottom of the home screen are the Together, Experts, and Discover tabs. The Together tab has been improved and allows users to share photos and brag about milestones and achievements with friends from within the app. Users can connect with the worldwide community from this tab too.

The Discover tab has been tailored to adapt to your experience. It lets you find health-related content including articles, programmes, and partner apps based on your interests and level of fitness. The Discover tab also has a products section where you can buy wearables, accessories, and health-related goods and services without leaving the platform.

Under the Experts tab you’ll find a symptom checker and have the choice to ask an expert about your health. You’ll have access to medical information, be able to look up symptoms, manage prescriptions, and chat live to certified doctors. In the U.K., Samsung Health has worked with Babylon, a popular health app, and in the U.S., it has worked with American Well.

Lastly, the update brings new changes to the wearable interface such as more at-a-glance information, a workout countdown, GPS tracking, and heart rate tracking information. The update also allows owners of Samsung smartwatches to track wellness and stress, this includes Sleep Stage Detection to track sleep cycles and improve habits. Stress is measured in real-time through heart rate and heart rate variability monitoring, as well as through the guided breathing exercise programme.

The new update is live now and ready for download.
