Samsung Galaxy S8 owners can now once again remap their Bixby buttons

A day after a new update blocked the ability for users to remap the Bixby button, the feature has now been restored and users can once again customize it.

The developer of the bxActions - Bixby Button Remapper app chimed in and announced that there is an update that adds a compatibility mode for units that downloaded the latest security update from T-Mobile and Sprint. While this is one example, it isn't the only app that has been updated allowing users to once again remap the Bixby button.

Even before its release, there was a lot of hype surrounding the arrival of Samsung's digital assistant Bixby. But, while it seemed like a true contender in the digital assistant space, it has instead struggled, not even making it out of Samsung's home country of South Korea. Although there is a trial in the United States, nothing has officially been released to the public.

For now, it appears that developers have gotten the upper hand, bringing the ability to customize the Bixby button back to users. But, it could be a matter of time before Samsung and its partners decide to once again close off that option. Like many unofficial fixes or workarounds, this may turn into a game of cat and mouse, leaving users hoping that developers will continue to succeed in finding alternative solutions.
