Microsoft has revealed that its Teams online meeting and collaboration app and service now has over 320 million monthly active users worldwide. There are also 2,000 apps in the Teams store
Other updates for Microsoft Teams in August 2023 include a new chat hover menu design, Spatial audio support in Teams Rooms, and Task lists sync in Microsoft Loop, among many others.
The new version of Microsoft Teams for Windows will support side-by-side windows so users can quickly switch from one chat group or tenant in a business to another group in the same organization.
The new version of Microsoft Teams, which is already available in a public preview, may be generally available sometime in October, according to the current update on the Microsoft 365 roadmap.
The upcoming Meet app for Microsoft Teams 2.0 will allow users to access info about any meetings content, including chats, notes, recaps, and more, from a central location in Teams.
Anupam Pattnaik, Microsoft's Product Lead for the new Teams version, also confirmed in a podcast interview it would expand to Mac, the web, and VDI platforms sometime later in 2023.
