Age of Empires IV announced among remastered versions of all three previous titles [UPDATE]

Age of Empires has been a staple of gaming history since it launched in 1997, and surprising to many, Microsoft announced that it will launch a remastered version of the original game to celebrate its 20th anniversary at E3 2017, with updated graphics, music, and gameplay mechanics among other things.

In a new trailer revealed today, it confirmed several of the previously revealed improvements, along with plans to integrate into the Xbox Live service, improving the multiplayer experience over the original. Something that wasn't announced previously was the date when fans of the series could get access to the new immersive experience, which is now officially October 19.

The firm does not have exact pricing but the game will be exclusive to the Windows 10's app store. You can sign up for the upcoming closed beta by visiting the official website as linked below. The company did not announce a firm date as to when this beta will start, but more news surrounding this should be revealed soon.

In a surprise announcement, Microsoft also revealed that the second and third installment in the series will get the remastered treatment, just as it has done with the first title. Beyond that, it announced Age of Empires IV in a new cryptic trailer that can be seen below. It will be the first foray into the franchise after Age of Empires: Online shut down, after a short three-year stint.

Update: You can now pre-order Age of Empires: Definitive Edition for $19.99 on the Windows 10 Store.
