Remember how Microsoft said that Windows 10 Mobile definitely reached end of support on December 10? That was perhaps a little too enthusiastic on its part, as end of life is now scheduled for January of 2020.
Spotted by the folks at WindowsLatest, the support page for Windows 10 Mobile now sports an additional disclaimer, which states:
Windows 10 Mobile, version 1709 will reach end of service on January 14, 2020. Devices running Windows 10 Mobile and Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise will no longer receive monthly security and quality updates that contain protection from the latest security threats.
This extension is utterly bizarre, even more so because the UWP Office apps on the platform will be supported until January 12, 2021, but the operating system underneath is set to reach EOL on January 14, 2020. Perhaps not at all coincidentally, Windows 7 also reaches end of support on the same date.
A somewhat related aspect is the fact that the company's new Chromium-based Edge browser is set to be generally available on January 15, 2020, even on Windows 7. As previously mentioned, the decade-old OS reaches EOL just the day before this launch.
