Sci-fi horror title SOMA is free to claim on the GOG store

Holiday sales are still rolling through almost every gaming storefront and the GOG store has begun another giveaway to mark the final week of its Winter Sale. Anyone with a GOG store account can now add a DRM-free copy of SOMA to their library without spending a cent.

Made by the creators of the horror hit Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Frictional Games, SOMA is an acclaimed science fiction horror adventure that takes place in an underwater research facility. And as usual for the developer's games, players can't fight back against the unsettling foes they meet while they try to progress.

However, for those who can't handle the horror aspects, the game also offers a Safe Mode now. This alters enemy AI to not kill the player character, removing the stealth aspects and letting players explore more freely.

Purchasing SOMA on GOG would normally cost $29.99, but for the next two days - until December 30, 11:00am UTC - the game is completely free to claim on the store.

Moreover, new games have been added to the GOG Connect page as well, letting users claim DRM-free versions of select Steam games they own for free. The GOG Winter Sale is slated to end on January 3.
