Sprint wants to give you $100 for the holidays ... in PokeCoins

Giving coins for the holidays is a great idea, especially if you're generous enough to make it a Bitcoin. Sprint has the right idea of coin-giving, but unfortunately, their gift isn't quite so magnanimous, unless of course, you are still into playing Pokemon Go.

The special offer will give you $100 in PokeCoins - that works out to be about 14,500 in-game coins - for every line you sign up to the company's Sprint Unlimited plan. Yes, dear holiday shopper, give the gift of Poke Balls, Raid Passes, and Incubators to that special Pokemon Go fanatic in your family. And you'll get Sprint's #4 (out of four) wireless network to go along with it!

The special promotion coincides with the recent release of 50 new Pokemon into the game. This isn't the first time Sprint has partnered with developer Niantic on a deal. Last year around this time, Sprint became the official wireless company for the game, turning many of its stores into PokeStops and Gyms.

If you are set on Sprint as your provider, but don't care for Pokemon Go, the company is still offering four lines of unlimited data, talk, and text for $100 per month, with a fifth line free for those with big families or lots of friends. The unlimited data plan also comes with Hulu and a six-month trial to the music streaming service Tidal.

“This is an amazing and valuable gift for all the U.S. Trainers out there,” Roger Solé, Sprint chief marketing officer, said in a press release. “When you switch to Sprint, you can enjoy all the benefits of Unlimited – including $100 in PokéCoins plus you can watch your favorite TV shows on Hulu and listen to streaming music with Tidal. This holiday season, Sprint is delivering the services you want most from your wireless company.”

If Pokemon Go is still your thing, then this is a good deal. If not, you can definitely catch a better deal elsewhere.
