The Evil Within studio's next game won't be horror, possible Microsoft exclusive

Tango Gameworks just released Ghostwire: Tokyo on PC and PlayStation 5, with an Xbox Series X|S version launching sometime after March 2023. The game is a supernatural action title that is getting generally favorable reviews from critics. However, what's next for the Microsoft-owned developer? According to a new interview between Japanese outlet Famitsu and studio founder Shinji Mikami, the team is working on a game that's the "opposite of horror".

Mikami is known for being the director of the original Resident Evil games. He said the following to the outlet.

John Johanas ... is working on a completely new title that is the complete opposite of horror ... It's a really old game, so keep your eyes peeled.

Johanas has worked on additional content for The Evil Within and The Evil Within 2. It'll be interesting to see what sort of a game this is. Tango Gameworks is known for only making horror games, and Mikami wants to change that image.

The upcoming game may be exclusive to PC and Xbox Series X|S because many Bethesda games like Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI will be. However, only time will tell. We'll keep you posted as soon as we know more about this mysterious project.
