The Xbox One X will launch with close to 70 enhanced titles in first week

The anticipation surrounding the Xbox One X release is palpable. As we near its availability, more information about the console is coming to fore. One of the most salient features of the One X is that it will have a "superior" gaming experience with 4k titles as well as enhanced games. With a reported 162 enhanced titles announced so far, the platform was expected to have around 80 games ready to be played the One X way, once it launches.

Now, Xbox's Albert Penello has put that number at around 70 enhanced titles in the week of release. Most publishers are, presumably waiting for its availability to push the enhanced version to the public.

Penello tweeted:

However, in a follow-up tweet, Penello clarified that these things are subject to change but, the "latest numbers" suggest that they will be able to hit 70 within the first week. Which games will be the first ones, this Penello did not say. But, it may not be very different to the initial 80 titles list.

Microsoft has been touting these titles to be one of the major differentiators between the One X and other consoles. Major Nelson even talked in-depth about this in a video. The company is going all out to make sure that the console gets the spotlight it deserves. With a strong ad campaign, pop-up hotels, and positive word-of-mouth, the console is poised for a strong start. But, the company has tempered expectations as the $500 console is not for everyone.

In case you missed it, our own Rich Woods did an unboxing of the Xbox One X. Make sure you check it out.
