Windows Live Messenger for Zune HD released

Microsoft has released Windows Live Messenger for its Zune HD device.

The application, a full year after the Zune HD was released, includes the ability to check out social updates from your friends. Shared items from Facebook, Flickr or MySpace are displayed within the application. You can also chat to Facebook friends using the app. Messenger for Zune HD also displays what you're listening to as your status message.

The new Messenger comes at a time when Windows Phone 7 is on the brink of release. The app hints at the functionality we might come to see in the Messenger for Windows Phone 7 application which was recently confirmed. Microsoft also released 3 new games for the Zune HD: WordMonger, Castles and Cannons, Dr. Optics.
