Alan Wake Remastered confirmed for this fall, Epic Games is publishing

Confirming several leaks, Remedy Entertainment today announced Alan Wake Remastered. This edition of the originally Microsoft platform exclusive thriller is being published by Epic Games, and will be a multiplatform release. Interestingly, the remaster announcement arrived via a post by Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake on an Alan Wake fan website.

Alan Wake Remastered will include The Signal and The Writer expansions in the package, plus developer commentary from Sam Lake. While no specific graphics upgrades like ray tracing were confirmed for the remeaster today, stylistic and visual changes players can expect from the new edition were detailed by Lake saying:

Alan Wake Remastered is the original experience you fell in love with all those years ago. We did not want to change that. But the visuals all around, including the character model of Alan Wake himself and the cinematics, have been updated and improved with some choice next-generation upgrades.

The 2019-released Control by the same developer is in the same supernatural universe as Alan Wake. The haunted writer also appeared in the Control DLC AWE, finally continuing his storyline.

Remedy is currently working on multiple new projects to further expand its connected universe of games, including a multiplayer Control spin-off. Epic Games was announced as a partner to the developer last year, so the remaster's exclusivity to its store is expected.

Moreover, this is the first time Alan Wake will be available on PlayStation platforms as well, since the original releases were only for the Xbox 360 and Windows. Keep in mind the original is playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S systems as well via backward compatibility.

Alan Wake Remastered is launching across PC via the Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Only a fall 2021 launch window was given today, and no pricing details were revealed.
