Amazon's new Echo Look has a camera so Alexa can judge you

Amazon today announced yet another Alexa-powered device, the Echo Look. This device is differentiated from the Echo and Echo Dot by the fact that it has a camera on the front, so naturally, if you're among the conspiracy theorists that think the government is spying on you just from an always-listening microphone, you're going to have a field day with this one.

The idea is for Alexa to "help you look your best". You can use the device to take full-length photos, and you can use the companion app (called Echo Look, rather than the Alexa app) to check yourself out. You can also use Style Check, "a new service that combines machine learning algorithms with advice from fashion specialists".

Of course, aside from the ability to use it for fashion tips, the Echo Look offers full support from Alexa. This means that you can use it to play music, audiobooks, weather forecasts, news briefings, and you can activate any of thousands of third-party skills.

It's built on a standard tripod mount, which means that if you don't like the stand that it comes on, you can swap it out with anything that fits.

Amazon's Echo Look will cost $199.99, but right now it's available by invitation only. You can request your invitation right here.
