DDR still outselling DDR-2 memory

MEMORY TRACKING site DRAM Exchange said its figures show that DDR-2 is still failing to outsell DDR memory. The whole DRAM market was worth $4.92 billion during the first quarter. It said that in the first quarter of 2006 the ratio stood at 29.1:58.2 in the quarter, making DDR the mainstream product in the retail market.

Of modules shipped, 512MB DIMMs held 55.5 per cent of the market, compared to 256MB DIMMs at 21.3 per cent. However, its figures show sales of 1GB DIMMs are growing steadily.
