New Flagship Microsoft Store Grand Opening on Fifth Avenue, New York City

Microsoft will be opening its new Flagship Store at 677 Fifth Avenue, New York, New York, on Monday, October 26th at noon. At 22,259 square feet it will be the largest Microsoft store in the world and will employ more than 160 people, including managers, event specialists, Answer Desk technicians, and Business Sales Specialists. It will take up five stories of its building, with the first three initially open to the public. On the front of the building, Microsoft will be displaying their Culture Wall with digital non-commercial art being displayed on a 40’ by 20’ display facing Fifth Avenue.

The first thing visitors will notice is the all-glass façade, using just shy of 6,500 square feet of glass and having required the removal of eight columns at the front of the building, it is a very different sight than its Fifth Avenue neighbors. Once in the store, the differences between this flagship location and other Microsoft Stores become apparent, with more video walls (36 screens apiece), easier to use products and the Community Theater upstairs.

The Grand Opening will see Microsoft grant $3 million of technology to 14 local businesses, as well as special deals on Surface devices, the lowest price available on Xbox One consoles and accessories, as well as the ability to purchase a new Microsoft Band 2 before general availability, although customers still won't be able to pick them up until the 30th. There will also be a community concert at Rockefellar Center featuring Pitbull, free for visitors to the store during the opening.. Beginning at 9pm on Monday, Microsoft will begin their Halo 5: Guardians launch events with special appearances including Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb, an Xbox fan favorite.
