Razr Tops Phone Sales in Boom Quarter

Motorola's Razr topped cell phone sales in a quarter which saw increases in total sales of 30 percent over the same quarter last year, according to market research firm NPD Group. Mobile phone sales to US customers in the three month period totaled 31.6 million units, up seven percent from the second quarter of this year. Overall, Motorola models accounted for three of the top five selling handsets, with its Razr v3 leading the way over Nokia's 6010. Overall, Motorola sold nearly 9.5 million handsets throughout the quarter for a 30 percent total market share during the three month period.
