AdBlock Plus comes to Internet Explorer

Popular ad-blocking browser add-on AdBlock Plus is now available on Internet Explorer, through a preview version published by the AdBlock team. While the software is rough around the edges at this stage and has very few features or settings - which is to be expected from beta software - it does function to remove ads from around the web.

The add-on is compatible with Internet Explorer 8 and above, and after you install it thanks to the download available in the source link it will be disabled by default, so you'll likely need a few browser restarts and some settings trawling before it works. Also, we couldn't seem to get whitelisting to work in AdBlock Plus on Internet Explorer 10 during our short testing of the add-on, which might be an issue for some, and as the Modern UI version of IE10 doesn't support add-ons, AdBlock Plus only works for the desktop version.

As always, we'd like to remind readers of Neowin that ads on our site is the main source of our revenue, and if you're thinking of installing an ad blocking browser extension, consider whitelisting Neowin (which will hopefully work in IE AdBlock Plus soon); it'd be super awesome of you. If you really can't stand ads, we always have a subscription you can purchase that removes ads site-wide.
