OnePlus users who want to try out OxygenOS can now download the final ROM and flash it on their devices.
Towards the end of last year, OnePlus revealed its plans to develop a Lollipop-based ROM of its own to reduce dependence upon Cyanogen. Finally, after a slight delay, the OxygenOS ROM is available for download from OnePlus' website.
According to OnePlus, OxygenOS is free from bloatware and provides a nearly stock Android Lollipop experience with a few additions such as gestures, extra customization options, and a tweaked quick settings bar. Users will be able to report any issues with the ROM using a feedback app which is also available from the website or use the company's forums.
OxygenOS does not support in-place upgrade for existing OnePlus One devices running on Cyanogen yet, but the company has stated that it is working on a solution for the next release. At the moment, users will have to wipe their storage and will lose their apps and data if they choose to install OxygenOS.
