Psychonauts is free to claim on the Humble Store for the next two days

Double Fine Production's Psychonauts from 2005 is being given away on the Humble Store for 48 hours. The game is a critically acclaimed adventure platformer with a large cult following.

The Humble Store gave away Telltale Games' The Walking Dead Season 1 last week for free, celebrating the beginning of its End of Summer Sale. Today, the store is back with another free game for everyone to claim, this time giving away the Double Fine developed critically acclaimed title from 2005, Psychonauts.

This third-person adventure platform game puts players in the shoes of Razputin "Raz" Aquato, a psychic powered boy who has run away from the circus life to land at a training camp for the psychically gifted. A section of the game's description taken from the store page is as follows.

A mysterious villain has kidnapped Raz’s fellow campers and stolen their brains. Now he must use his psychic powers of Telekinesis, Levitation, and most of all his ability to project himself into the minds of others--to find the loose noodles and keep them from falling into the wrong hands. Fight mental demons! Uncover hidden memories! Sort emotional baggage! Explore the fantastic realm of the inner mind! Join the Psychonauts!

Even with the massively positive reception, the game did not do well commercially but has gathered a rather large cult following over the years. With Double Fine finally developing a sequel to the game following a successful Fig campaign that raised 3.8 million dollars, it may be a good idea to see what is so special about the original with this free offer.

Ordinarily available at $9.99, Psychonauts is now completely free to claim for the next two days on the Humble Store. The store provides a Steam key as well as a DRM-free version, with both playable on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
