Sea of Thieves release date officially set for March 20, 2018

The Microsoft platform exclusive pirate-themed action-adventure game, Sea of Thieves, finally has a new release date, sailing our way on March 20, 2018. The company unveiled the date with a brand new trailer, seen above.

The Rare-developed title was originally announced back at E3 2015, and has made an appearance at every E3 presentation since then. The game has been in an alpha testing phase since last year, with the developer gathering feedback from prospecting pirates keen on gathering up some treasure.

The trailer also unveiled some new features, such as spyglasses, character customization, chickens (as well as crates to carry them of course), explosive barrels, and more.

Sea of Thieves is up for pre-order right now on the Microsoft store, coming in at $59.99, available for both Xbox One and Windows 10. As the game is part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, anyone who purchases the game digitally on either platform will get access to both of them without any extra charge.
