Dying Light 2: Stay Human's latest delay slides launch back to 2022

Techland's highly anticipated zombie-infested open-world action game Dying Light 2: Stay Human has been hit with a delay, continuing the latest string of launch date pushbacks. Instead of the December 7, 2021, launch date the developer announced earlier this year, the title will now release on February 4, 2022.

Announced via the official Dying Light Twitter account, Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka said the game is complete and is currently undergoing playtesting. "It is by far the biggest and the most ambitious project we’ve ever done," he says. "Unfortunately, we’ve realized for us to bring the game to the level we envision, we need more time to polish and optimize it."

To make the longer wait a little easier, extensive coverage of the game, on both PC and console versions, will kick off next month with preview events around the world. "We are sorry to keep you all waiting a little longer, but we want the game to meet your highest expectations on release and we don’t want to compromise on this," Marchewka added.

This is the second delay to hit Dying Light 2 since its original reveal back in 2018, with it going on to miss the spring 2020 window by a wide margin. Thankfully, the latest schedule adjustment is only a two-month slide unless some other blockers happen in the meantime. Aside from the new dense urban region and an expanded parkour system, the title is also aiming for a much deeper RPG experience compared to the first game, adding factions and loyalty elements.

With the delay, Dying Light 2: Stay Human is now launching in the same month as the Saints Row reboot and Horizon Forbidden West (after its own delay) are dropping.
