Microsoft rolls out September firmware update for Surface Pro 3

Next month, Microsoft will unveil its new Surface Pro 4 - alongside the Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL and Band 2 - but it's continuing to make improvements to the current model of its popular flagship tablet in the meantime, delivering its latest update today.

The September firmware update for the Surface Pro 3 is now available to download via Windows Update. However, don't get too excited - there's not much to this latest update at all, as Microsoft's release notes reveal:

USB 3.0 Card Reader driver update (v10.0.10240.31217) improves the system power usage when an SD card is inserted.

...and that's it. As with all such updates, Microsoft reminds users that it staggers its software rollouts, so if it's not immediately available on your Surface Pro 3, try again a bit later.

By the way, if you're thinking of buying a Surface Pro 3 in the UK, you've got until tomorrow morning to take advantage of a Microsoft flash sale, offering 15% off the Intel Core i7 models, saving you up to £232.

Thanks for the tip, JP!
