Samsung's upcoming 'Gear S3' could feature extra sensors and GPS

Gears S2

The Samsung Galaxy Note7 will be at the forefront of Samsung news for the next month, but it looks as though the company is prepping the debut of its next device in September at IFA 2016. The device in question won't be a new handset, but will instead be the next iteration in the Gear line of smartwatches, the Gear S3.

The Gears S2 and S2 Classic made its debut nearly a year ago and has been updated with more luxurious models through the course of the year. But, it's time for something new according to SamMobile, as Samsung is prepping the follow up Gear S3, which will be announced next month at IFA in Berlin. The Gear S3 won't be a minor update, but will instead offer more features with built-in sensors like an altimeter, barometer, and GPS antenna. The Gear S3 looks to up the ante when it comes to outdoor features, potentially to lure those that need more than a smartwatch that acts an extension of a smartphone.

Naturally, we will have to wait a month to see if the rumors will pan out. Luckily, we won't have to wait that long.
