WordPress.com gets improved media handling

Blogging service WordPress.com has announced a series of updates to the way users can access and interact with the Media Library, even when they’re not writing a post.

This newest set of changes brings access to bulk media upload, which can be done via file picker (Media-> Add New) or simply by dragging and dropping items onto the page. Once uploaded, you can edit image information such as title or caption through selection of the item that needs changing and clicking Edit.

From the media detail view of an image you can also access the Image Editor, which allows for rotating, cropping to certain aspect rations, and flipping of images, directly from the website.

Last but not least, improvements have been made to the search function as well, with the possibility of filtering your files by type.

These improvements have surfaced less then a week after the modern WordPress.com editor got its own set of refinements on the 15.
