Asus' new ZenBook range starts at $1,099, includes "world's thinnest, lightest convertible"

At its briefing at Computex 2017 in Taipei, Asus has unveiled a trio of premium ZenBook laptops. The updated lineup includes the ZenBook Pro, ZenBook 3 Deluxe, and the ZenBook Flip S. The machines offer higher computational power - compared to their predecessors - and respectable specifications at a premium price tag.

Starting at $1,299, the Asus ZenBook Pro is the most powerful of the lot and features a 4K NanoEdge display, which supports the Asus Pen. The laptop weighs 1.8kg and is 18.9 mm thick. It sports a dual-fan cooling system with three heat pipes, which keeps its external temperature 2.35°C below the previous generation. Asus has also teamed up with Harmon Kardon to develop a quad-speaker, claiming to provide the "most incredible sound you’ve ever heard on a laptop". Other specifications are as follows:

  • Display: 15.6” LED-backlit 4K UHD (Touch optional) / 15.6” LED-backlit Full HD (Touch optional)
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro / Windows 10 Home
  • Processor: 2.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i7-7700HQ with Turbo Boost (up to 3.8GHz) and 6MB cache / 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5-7300HQ with Turbo Boost (up to 3.5GHz) and 6MB cache

The company has also taken the wraps off the latest ZenBook 3 Deluxe, which starts at $1,199. Asus says that the machine packs a 14-inch display in a compact chassis that is roughly equivalent to what can be seen in 13-inch laptops. The ZenBook 3 Deluxe features a unibody design with an all-metal finish and golden borders. Further specifications can be seen below:
